Now one of Australia's major film festivals, the Melbourne Queer Film Festival launched on Wednesday night at Melbourne’s Crown Metropol. As well as showcasing the best of queer film from around the globe, this year’s festival features a special free panel discussion where leading practitioners from all areas of the film business give an insiders perspective of the industry.

Queer, Camera, Action! features industry leaders exploring three aspects of queer filmmaking: writing, financing and distribution.

Writer and directors including Grant Scicluna and Lee Galea head the writing forum. Pozible co-founder Rick Chen, producers Lee Matthews, Jannine Barnes and Jay Rutovitz join the financing panel and MQFF director Lisa Daniel, Cinema Nova manager Kristian Connelly, Madman Entertainment's Paul Tonta are among the distribution panel specialists.

The day continues with the screening of the six documentaries produced during the festival's Gen2Gen Community Film Project and a networking event to round off the day.

Queer, Camera, Action! take place on Saturday, March 22 from midday at The Cube, ACMI Downstairs. Further information at mqff.com.au
