Liza Minnelli responds to Ellen's Oscar's joke

Liza Minelli has responded to Ellen DeGeneres' Oscar's joke which referred to her as "sir".

"Hello to the best Liza Minnelli impseronator I've ever seen. Good job, sir"

It was this gag by Oscar's host Ellen DeGeneres that sparked a furore prompting a New York theatre critic to start a petition on change.org for DeGeneres to apologise to Minnelli.

But what did Liza herself actually think?

“I think she thought it would be funny,” the 67-year-old said.

“But she never stopped after she said it and said, ‘My friend Liza Minnelli.’ I think it went a little astray on her but I don’t think that she meant any harm at all, and she’s a wonderful lady and I think she did great.”
