Lesbian crime fighters return to Dr Who
Scottish actress Neve McIntosh has told reporters at London's ComicCon that her lesbian crime fighting character Madame Vastra will return to Dr Who for the 2014 season.
Vastra made the comment whilst being interviewed by web show, Flicks and the City, saying the Silurian sleuth would be back to assist Peter Capaldi’s new Doctor in his time travelling adventures.
Vastra told Flicks in the City ‘I can confirm I’m going to be in it again, ‘[Dr Who head scribe, Stephen] Moffat’s already said we’re definitely going to be in the next series, so as far as I can tell it’s official unless he changes his mind.’
Asked whether she would like to see a spin-off featuring her and her character’s wife Jenny played by Catrin Stewart McIntosh enthused:
"It’s such a brilliant age. You can do so much in Victorian times, as it’s got that steam punk edge to it and can be a bit more edgier and dangerous," she said.
The out of this world lesbian couple were introduced to the show’s audience last year in the Christmas special The Snowmen.
