Kathy Bates and Sandra Oh team up for lesbian movie
Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates and Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh have just wrapped on a new film, Tammy – which sees the duo cast as lesbians in the Melissa McCarthy-penned road trip flick.
Bates dished the dirt on her co-star in an interview with PrideSource today, saying Oh brought a lot of love and warmth to her role.
“'I'm just absolutely in love with Sandra,” Bates told PrideSource. “Let me just say that she really brought our relationship to bloom It was her idea to have the wedding rings – because of course – which I hadn't thought about, and also, really, to think that our relationship is the healthiest relationship in the movie.”
Bates hopes her character will also provide some insight into what it was like to be gay or lesbian in the seventies and eighties.
Asked who her dream co-star would be should she tackle a lesbian role again, Bates suggested statuesque actress, Uma Thurman.
"I shared a plane trip with Uma Thurman once and I thought she was pretty cool. I could see doing a movie with her and having a lesbian relationship -- although I'm much too old for her," she laughed.
