'Health crisis' forces Riot grrrl pioneer Kathleen Hanna to cancel tour

Riot grrl pioneer and former Bikini Kill/Le Tigre singer Kathleen Hanna has been forced to cancel the remainder of her Julie Ruin tour as she seeks treatment for Lyme disease.

The cancellation of the band's remaining tour dates was announced via their Facebook page on Tuesday.

"We are ridiculously sad to announce that all shows/appearances are cancelled until September 2014," the Facebook page announced.

Hanna, who has been an influential figure and activist within LGBTI and feminist circles since the early 90s, was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2005.

A documentary on Hanna - The Punk Singer - released last year gave viewers an insight into the singer's struggle with the disease and although she has been quoted as being in remission, has continued to receive treatment.
