As part of the initiative to increase access to HIV testing in Queensland, rapid testing is now available at the office of Queensland Positive People (QPP) in Cairns.

HIV Foundation Queensland CEO Tony Majer highlighted the importance of providing a variety of settings that offer HIV rapid testing so as to further reduce barriers to testing.

"People in Cairns should be able to choose where they feel most comfortable to test, whether that be in a Sexual Health Clinic or a community setting,” Majer said.

The free and confidential HIV rapid tests and STI screens are performed by a clinical nurse at an outreach service of Cairns Sexual Health.

The QPP clinic is in a discreet location and open every Monday from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Appointments can be made by telephoning 1800 636 241, however an appointment is not necessary and walk-ins are welcome.
