GAYTMs win top prize at prestigious advertising awards in Cannes
They were a hit on Oxford Street during Sydney Mardi Gras and now, ANZ’s uber-camp GAYTMs have a struck a chord with judges at the Cannes Lions 2014, taking the top honour at the annual advertising awards.
The jury at world’s biggest annual awards festival for professionals in the creative communications industry awarded ANZ’s GAYTM campaign the top honour – a Grand Prix award – in the Outdoor category.
Matt Boss, ANZ Managing Director of Marketing said: “We’re very pleased that this flagship campaign celebrating diversity, inclusion and respect has been recognised at such a prestigious event, particularly considering the global brands that were also shortlisted”.
The GAYTM campaign, produced by ad agency Whybin/TBWA, featured ten decorated ATMs, installed around Sydney earlier this year, as part of ANZ’s sponsorship of Sydney Mardi Gras.

Artists were individually commissioned to embellish the ATMS, with many using a variety of materials including rhinestones, glitter, jewels and sequins.
Not everyone took to the campaign’s liking, however, with two of the GAYTMs vandalised in March.
