Open Doors Youth Service, together with Headspace Nundah, launches its art therapy classes for LGBTI youth today.

Open Doors' Jules Miklos-Woodley said the program was aimed at helping LGBTI young people be more confident in accessing mental support services.

She said LGBTI young people are four times more likely to experience mental illness, suicide and self harm than their peers.

The art therapy sessions run for four weeks on Wednesdays at 4pm.

On July 23 & 30 the classes are at Open Doors, 5 Green Square Close, Fortitude Valley (entry on Constance St).

On August 6 & 13 Headspace Nundah will host the classes at 1264 Sandgate Rd, Nundah.

Cost is free, art materials are supplied. More information: (07) 3257 7660 / opendoors.net.au
