Elton John says Jesus would have supported gay marriage
Sir Elton John has stating Jesus would have supported same sex marriage if he were alive.
The iconic singer made the comments in an interview with Sky News' Dermot Murnaghan.
“If Jesus Christ was alive today, I cannot see him, as the Christian person that he was, and the great person that he was, saying this could not happen,” he said.
“He was all about love and compassion and forgiveness and trying to bring people together and that is what the church should be about.”
The singer, who is in a civil partnership with David Furnish, will wait until next year to marry after the government announced that couples in Britain could only convert partnerships to marriage from December 10.
