Dan Savage urges Christians to come out for LGBTI with The NALT Project
Dan Savage the founder of the It Gets Better project, which urged young LGBTI people to hang on through the tough times cause it gets better, has embarked on a new campaign the ‘NALT Christian Project”.
Savage says he coined the NALT phrase as he encountered “so many Christians who prefaced their introduction to him by saying ‘they were not all like that’ - we don’t all hate and condemn gay people”. Savage says he then used the phrase a few times on his blog and it stuck.
His new project is for all those gay-affirming Christians out there. He urges them to help spread their love of LGBTI people to the world via his NALT project. Savage says he wants Christians to speak up and show their support and stop “people like the Tony Perkins and Pat Robertsons of this world speaking for you”.
Savage adds: “It’s a message that needs to be heard by young LGBTI people who have been told it’s biblical to condemn and discriminate against LGBTI people. They need to hear that Christians aren’t all like that and you don’t believe that Christ is like that. It’s a message that also needs to be heard by other gay affirming Christians.”
Savage urges Christians to get on board to show their support by making their own video and uploading it to the NALT Christian Project.
