Watch: Iran rips off Modern Family, gets rid of gay characters
US sitcom Modern Family has been given a reboot by producers in Iran. The unauthorised version of the cult comedy is being made by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.
The storylines are almost identical to its American counterpart – the only difference – gay couple Cam and Mitch have been written out of the show and replaced with a son and daughter-in-law – no doubt more in keeping with Iran’s conservative culture.
The show, called Haft Sang has not be authorised by 20th Century Fox, who recently signed deals for the rights to adapt Modern Family to producers in Chile and Greece.
