Steve Martin nixes rumoured Father of the Bride sequel with gay characters
Despite rumours circulating the internet, spurred on by a report from Hollywood insider Nikki Finke, actor Steve Martin has denied there will be a new Father of the Bride sequel.
The 68-year-old comedian and actor took to Twitter to moot the idea, saying he had not seen been offered the role or seen a script for the film.
Finke had previously circulated a story that Martin would return to the popular comedy film franchise alongside Diane Keaton and the plot would revolve around the nuptials of their gay son.
Martin dismissed the rumours.
So excited to read I'm doing Father of the Bride 3 since I haven't seen a script or been offered the role!— Steve Martin (@SteveMartinToGo) June 16, 2014
The Father of the Bride was based on the 1950 film of the same name. The 1995 sequel was also based on 1951’s Father’s Little Dividend –the sequel to the original film.
