Neil Patrick Harris rumoured to take over Late Show

Since David Letterman announced his retirement from The Late Show last week, the rumour mill has been in overdrive touting replacements – one name that keeps popping up is TV actor and Broadway star Neil Patrick Harris.

Harris, whose long running show How I Met Your Mother wrapped this year, is currently starring on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Whilst Harris has denied there has been any discussions, telling the New York Observer, “That hasn't even been a conversation at all”, the star is rumoured to be a favourite with CBS boss Les Moonves, who handpicked Harris to helm the last two Emmy Awards.

Harris for his part has described hosting the Late Show as an “asinine amount of work” but has not said he would turn down the job if it were offered…
