N Sync’s Lance Bass produces doco on ex-gay therapy
Former ‘N Sync member Lance Bass has produced a new documentary on a Dominican Republic school where lesbian and gay children are held against their will and subjected to behaviour modification.
The documentary, Kidnapped by Christ by filmmaker Kate Logan, investigates the Escuela Carib, a Christian reform school where children are subjected to extreme forms of discipline in an attempt to change their sexual orientation.
The school also uses the same treatment to treat behavioural issues and drug problems.
Logan’s film follows three teens at the reform school, one of whom – a gay teen named David from Colorado – she assists in escaping from the program.
Bass signed on to executive produce the film early on in the production and helped fundraise for completion funds through crowdsourcing.
