Russian pop duo T.aT.u - who famously used lesbian imagery in their 2003 video ‘All the things she said’ – have reportedly been asked to perform at the Opening Ceremony at the Sochi Winter Olympics on Friday 7 February.

It has been reported athletes will enter the stadium to the soundtrack of the duo’s hit ‘Not Gonna Get Us’ with the singers - Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova - going on to perform at a warm-up show, which will not be televised internationally.

Volkova and Katina first rose to prominence in 2003 with their critically acclaimed album 200 KM/H in the Wrong Lane which featured Not Gonna Get Us and All the Things She Said.

Songs from the album featured lesbian and bisexual themes, however the girls claimed they were never in a relatoinship or together - that they merely supported the LGBT community.

T.a.T.u officially split up in 2011.
