Call out for presenters at the Human Rights Forum

LAST UPDATED // Tuesday, 03 December 2013 11:31 Written by // Cec Busby

To coincide with Human Rights Week, the 3rd Asia Pacifc Outgames is calling for presenters to appear at the Power Through Action Human Rights Forum which will be a part of the 2014 Outgames.

The forum will highlight human rights issues for LGBTI people and focus on building social movements for change. Organisers say the forum will provide an opportunity for LGBTI people to be heard and have their stories and concerns shared throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The Forum program already includes a number of prominent LGBTI representatives including the Honourable Michael Kirby.

“Human Rights week is a significant reminder of the need for power through action ” says Jacqui Pearce Director of the Human Rights Forum.  “The Forum provides an important opportunity for lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender and intersex people to share a call to action”.

The 3rd Asia Pacific Outgames Human Rights Forum “Power Through Action” will be held in Darwin from 14 -16 May 2014 at Double Tree by Hilton. The final call for Expressions of Interest for Presenters has been extended until 15 December 2013 and registrations for the Forum have now opened at www.darwinoutgames.com.au
