Brisbane's Biggest Gay Day ever

Punters at The Wickham Hotel’s Big Gay Day in Brisbane got to experience some of the best dance music the city will hear this year.

The Wickham was packed to capacity for Big Gay Day, resulting in a $25,000 fundraising donation to its four chosen charities.

This year’s recipients were PFLAG Brisbane, Open Doors Youth Service, ATSAQ and the Queensland AIDS Council (QuAC).

“The Hotel had the biggest line-up of international artists ever, with Boy George singing along with his DJ set,” said The Wickham’s manager, Ruth Gardner.

“The day ran so well and we are already looking forward to starting the planning for our next event. The Wickham thanks all those that were involved in making Big Gay Day such a success.”

Apart from Boy George, the stellar line-up included rapper Cazwell, The Potbelleez, Luciana and the Freemasons’ Russell Small, while DJs including Fradge, Sveta and Beth Yen kept the mood up throughout the evening.

QP’s roving photographer managed to capture much of the action - check it out here.
