Big Bang's Jim Parsons wins at Emmys.
Big Bang Theory’s openly gay star, Jim Parsons has walked away with the Emmy for lead actor in a comedy series. The win marks the third time the popular star has won the award.
In 2010 and 2011 Parsons won consecutive awards for his portrayal of geeky Sheldon Cooper in the CBS hit comedy.
This year Parsons beat out a slew of Hollywood heavyweights to take the top honour, including 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin and Jason Bateman for the reboot of Arrested Development.
The Big Bang Theory is the US’ most watched comedy series with an average of 18.6 million viewers per episode.
The Emmy Awards took place at the Nokia Theatre in LA.Openly gay actor Neil Patrick Harris hosted the event.
