The fall-out over homophobic remarks made by prospective candidates for the Katter Australia Party continues, with party leader Bob Katter refusing to condemn the remarks.

An ad starring gay rights advocate Carl Katter has been launched in Brisbane today urging Queenslanders to not “vote for hate” at the upcoming state election following the recent airing of a controversial anti-gay ad by his half-brother Bob Katter’s newly formed Katter’s Australian Party (KAP).

The controversy surrounding the anti-gay television ad aired by Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) over the weekend in the lead-up to the Queensland election has widened, with a French photographer angry that his images were used and KAP funder, billionaire James Packer saying he “certainly” doesn’t support the message conveyed in the ad.

Widespread community outrage and a backlash on social media networks has greeted the airing of a “homophobic” anti-gay marriage ad by Katter’s Australian Party in Queensland overnight attacking LNP Leader Campbell Newman, with some including Bob Katter’s half-brother calling it “desperate” and “disrespectful” while others have suggested it will only appeal to “rednecks”.
