Volunteer for ACON Rovers this Mardi Gras season
ACON is looking fun-loving members of the community to join their well-know and loved team of Rovers.
The ACON Rovers provide support and information at major LGBTI parties and events for party goers. Each ACON Rover is trained, supervised and equipped to help party goers enjoy themselves and party safely.
With Mardi Gras being the Rovers' busiest time ACON are looking to beef up the numbers of volunteers.
"We're doing three training sessions, people can choose which they want to do," ACON's Raquel Lowe told GNN
"We're hoping for about 20 per session. We like a full house for all lots of training."
Lowe said lunch would be provided for the two Saturday session, with of course tea, coffee, fruit juice, water and biscuits all available.
"There's also no expectation that participants actually Rove," Lowe pointed out. "You might come and do the training, then decide against it, or may Rove at some of the other events later in the year."
The dates of the training session are:
Saturday February 6 from 10am-4pm
Saturday February 13 from 10am-4pm, and
Tuesday and Wednesday February 16-17 from 6pm-8.30pm (One training session spread over two nights.)
NB: ACON requires all volunteers to undergo a criminal record check and you will need to bring 100 points of ID for the purposes of this check. If you have any concerns about this please feel free to contact Raquel on 02 9206 2067.
The training will be held in the ACON Sydney premises, Rooms 3.12 and 3.11 (Level 3), 414 Elizabeth St, Surry Hills NSW 2010.
Places are limited. Go to aconhealth.org.au to register and choose the training session that suits you best.
