James Blunt: 'As if calling me 'gay' were an insult'. In fact, the singer says it's a 'compliment'

We need to make #HonoraryGay a thing!

Singer James Blunt may have gotten a few noses out of joint in 2015 because of his stint on X Factor (Hello! No one messes with our Dannii) but he’s back on our good books saying quipping how much he wants to be an ‘honorary gay’.

Yep, that’s a meme, hashtag and t-shirt slogan waiting to happen.

In an interview with the BBC, Blunt says there’s nothing wrong when people think he’s gay. In fact, he takes it as a compliment.

"I sing songs that aren'’ very macho and so people will say, ‘Oh you're effeminate’ or ‘gay’ as if calling me gay were an insult,” Blunt said. “But to call me ‘gay’ is a compliment and I would like to be considered an honorary gay man because I’m totally at ease with myself. And I suppose I’ve written songs that are sensitive because I wouldn’t normally describe those emotions in everyday life.”

Bless your cotton socks Blunt, you totally rock being an #honorarygay !
