Bears set to party for Adelaide Fringe

Bears are set to party this Fringe with Bear Men of Adelaide presenting their inaugural Fringe Bears weekend, March 15-17, during Adelaide's famous Fringe Festival.

The weekend kicks off at 7pm on Friday March 15 with a dinner at Bear Men of Adelaide's home pub The Directors Hotel, 247 Gouger St. Diners will be able to choose either 2 or 3 courses from the Director's delicious Thai and Aussie menu, at a special Fringe Bears price.

Then at 9pm bears will head upstairs at the Directors for the annual Mr Bear SA contest, where glamorous host Helga Handfull will put eager bear contestants through their paces in 3 entertaining rounds, including a fantasy performance. Thanks to Eagle Leather in Melbourne, the winner will be flown to Melbourne in June to represent Adelaide and South Australia in the prestigious Mr Bear Australasia contest held annually during Southern Hibearnation. Mr Bear SA will also feature special guest performances by the finest artists from the Adelaide bear community, and it promises to be a fun night well worth attending.

On Saturday March 16, bears and friends will gather in Chinatown for a delicious yum cha lunch. We all know bears love food, and a yum cha lunch is the perfect way to celebrate this passion. Tickets for this event must be pre-purchased and are available now at bmofa.org.au.

And then it's the big one – the Honey Adelaide party on the Saturday night March 16. Sydney's Honey has quickly built a reputation for throwing great dance parties, and Honey Adelaide will be no exception, with resident Honey DJs Mark Alsop (Sydney) and DJ MikeyB (Brisbane) flying in to town to party away the night, and amazing lasers by Adelaide's own Ubersapian. Honey Adelaide will be at Porky's Spit, 196 Hindley St, from 10pm Saturday March 16.

Sunday March 17 sees the Fringe Bears weekend come to a close, with the bears doing what bears do best – chillaxing. The Fringe Bears Sauna Recovery from 12pm at Pultney 431 will be the perfect wind-down to a huge weekend, and there'll be delicious finger food available to enhance your friendly sauna experience. Discount entry for people wearing their Honey wristband from the night before.
