Cairns Tropical Pride: Nine days in a Tropical Wonderland

Cairns Tropical Pride: Nine days in a Tropical Wonderland

CREATED ON // Friday, 11 July 2014 Author // Andrew Shaw

Cairns Tropical Pride is in its eight year, and this year’s festival features ten events over nine days, catering for young and old, lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer and intersex people and our friends.

Starting August 23 with a pool party, the fun continues through the week with a Turtle Cove Beach Party, a film night, sistagirls event, seniors luncheon; on the Thursday there’s a Pride Ride down the Cairns Esplanade, followed by a women’s dance on Friday, then a Pride Festival Parade complete with floats – it’s Cairns’ very own Mardi Gras parade!

Then on Sunday there’s the climactic Fair Day at Tanks Arts Centre. This is the signature event of Pride Festival, a day full of fun and frivolity, when the LGBTQI community invite family and friends to celebrate with us in the beautiful surrounds of Cairns’ premiere entertainment venue.
