The machinations of a Washington sex scandal form the basis of the plot of a new off-Broadway comedy Tail Spin.

Written by gay playwright Mario Correa, Tail Spin follows the scandalous texts of former Florida congressman Mark Foley and former Idaho senator Larry Craig, as well as former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford and former New York congressman Anthony Wiener and uses them as a the basis for a crafty comedy.

Foley resigned in 2006 after his sexually explicit text messages to congressional pages came to light, whilst Craig resigned after being accused of soliciting sex from an undercover police officer in a toilet.

The play will be directed by Tony nominee Dan Knechtges,

Saturday Night Live’s Rachel Dratch will reprise her roles from the original staging.
