Hailed as a theatrical triumph, Cameron Mackintosh’s remount of Les Misérables will be opening at Sydney's Capitol Theatre in March 2015. Tickets to the show, which features queer cabaret and musical theatre icon Trevor Ashley, go on sale on August 25.

This new production of the much-loved musical delivers re-imagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo and has been described by critics as exceeding the original and thrilling spectacular and unforgettable.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century revolutionary France, Les Misérables has been seen by over 65 million people worldwide in 42 countries and in 22 languages and is undisputedly one of the most popular musicals of all time.

Having won more than 100 major awards around the world it has been hailed as “the most stirring, moving musical ever”. Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, it is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit.

Cameron Mackintosh has assembled an extremely talented cast for this new Australian production of Les Misérables consisting of some of Australia’s brightest stars Simon Gleeson, Hayden Tee, Patrice Tipoki, Lara Mulcahy, Trevor Ashley, Kerrie Anne Greenland, Emily Langridge, Chris Durling and Euan Doidge.

Les Misérables is currently playing in Melbourne at Her Majesty’s Theatre and will continue onto Perth’s Crown Theatre in January 2015 before transferring to the Capitol Theatre in Sydney in March 2015.
