Surry Hills Festival announces music line up

LAST UPDATED // Tuesday, 02 September 2014 16:36 Written by // Garrett Bithell

In trademark Surry Hills Festival style, Sydney’s most loved music heroes will join local creatives, designers, businesses and installation artists, taking over the suburb on September 27 from morning til late.

The Festival has just announced the likes of Italo funk disco poster boy Donny Benét, psychedelic shoegaze headliners The Laurels and scorched storyteller Spookyland to round out the day.  Getting you on your feet as the sun goes down will be DJ sets from Modular’s Canyons and GoodGod faves Yo Grito! as well as sets from indie pop rockers The Lulu Raes, electronic misfits Tales in Space, indie pop princess Little Fox, and Crown Street duo Spirit Valley to name a few.

Spread across the two main stages in Ward Park and Shannon Reserve as well as the Velvet Cave Stage on Hill Street, this year’s music line up emphasises the local talent that fills this area. With more acts to be announced, there will be something for all music-lovers.

Festival partner AIM – one of our leading music and creative schools – will present performances by their best emerging artists on stages and sites across the Festival.

From Ward Park to Shannon Reserve, Crown Street to Hill Street and everything in between, 50,000 Sydneysiders are expected to attend the Surry Hill Festival, lapping up great music, art, design and performance installations, creative studio tours and more.

Surry Hills Festival is produced by Surry Hills Neighbourhood with funds raised going to support important community programs. It is also an associated event of Art & About Sydney 2014, produced by City of Sydney.

Surry Hills Festival 2014 is on Saturday, September 27, 10am – 10pm with  entry by donation. Visit: www.surryhillsfestival.com
