Sydney musical theatre company, Squabbalogic, has announced their second annual season of independent musicals, which will premiere at the Seymour Centre.

No doubt Sondheim fans will be keen to sink their teeth into the first cab of the rank in the new season which commences in October with the Australian Premiere of the stage documentary Sondheim on Sondheim.

More than a retrospective, this new production combines Sondheim’s music with in-depth video interviews to deliver an incredible insight into the man dubbed the father of the modern American musical.

Craig Stewart (A New Brain, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) will direct a cast that includes Blake Erickson (Hold Me Closer Logies dancer), Louise Kelly (Billy Elliot), Debora Krizak (Sweet Charity), Phillip Lowe (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and Monique Sallé (A Chorus Line).

Squabbalogic will follow this up with a revival production of Tony Award Winning musical, Man from La Mancha. It’s 50 years since the musical had its premiere, yet Man from La Mancha remains relevant for a modern audience with its story of a political prisoner and his vivid imaginings.

The final production for Squabbalogic will be the Aussie premiere of the hit Off-Broadway comedy Triassic Parq. Loosely based on the blockbuster Jurassic Park films, the musical brings dinosaurs, show tunes and sex-change together for anight of screwball musical comedy.

Squabbalogic Artistic Director Jay James-Moody said the company was thrilled to be returning to the Seymour Centre to deliver a season of works.

“We’re absolutely beside ourselves with excitement to be embarking on our second annual season, and to be returning to a venue that represents some of our best and most well received work.”

“Having our main stage shows under the one roof also means we can fulfill a long held ambition to offer subscriber tickets to our productions with our ridiculously cheap Squabb at Seymour Mutli-Tix bundles for audiences who purchase tickets to all three main stage productions.”

Tickets for the Squabbalogic 2014-15 season are on sale now www.seymourcentre.com or the Seymour Centre box office: (02)9351 7940.
