Anthony Callea has announced he will be embarking on a nation-wide tour later this year to support his fifth album, Ladies & Gentlemen, The Songs of George Michael.

10 years since the pop-star and gay icon first hit the stage of Australian Idol and 30 years since George Michael released his first solo album, Callea says it's time to pay tribute to a performer who has influenced him enormously.

"Like many of us, the music of George Michael has influenced me from a young age," Callea said.

"As a singer, his vocal ability is undoubtedly one of a kind. The fact that his catalogue is full of classic hits that will live on forever, makes it even more exciting to hit stages around the country to pay tribute to these iconic songs and to one of the finest male vocalists of our time."

The album will be released on August 1.

Callea will play Perth's Astor Theatre on Sept 19, Adelaide's Her Majesty's Theatre on Sept 20, Brisbane's Convention Centre on Sept 27, Sydney's Enmore Theatre on Oct 3 and The Palms at Melbourne's Crown Casino on Oct 4.
