Trikone Australasia, a support group for LGBT young people is hosting the first of a series of queer movie nights this month with the aim of providing an opportunity for young people to meet up, socialise and discover more about our community.

The inaugural screening will be the premiere of The Ode, by writer-producer Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla. The film is an adaptation of Ghalib’s critically acclaimed novel, Ode to Lata. The Ode storyline spans two generations of Indians, residing in Kenya. There is the passionate love story of Parin and Shiraz, intertwined with the life of their gay son Ali. The film explores gay parental relationships, childhood and exile. Ghalib will take part in a Q&A session after the film via videostream.

Trikone has also promised a number of performances as part of the launch event – so stay tuned for further details.

Trikone Queer Movie night takes place at the Red Rattler in Marrickville on July 12.
