Tropfest: the biggest short films in the world

Author // Andrew Shaw Categories // Entertainment | Movies

Sydney short film fans should head to the Domain this Sunday to find a spot on the grass for Tropfest 2013.

The day starts with Trop Jr film screenings by young filmmakers, followed by indie rock outfit Round The Corner performing live, then Meg Mac, who has been described as an ‘unexpected new soul sound’, hotly pursued by Clubfeet.

Kate Miller Heidke will serenade crowds before the Tropfest Finalists screenings. Judges will evaluate the films live on the night, and the short films (each under seven minutes) will be screened to the live crowd, judges and television audience in two sets of eight films.

Festival creator and director John Polson said he is excited about the quality of this year’s films. “We were blown away by the immense talent in our shortlist this year and picking 16 films from hundreds of entries was not easy,” Polson said. “These films demonstrate the incredible number of compelling storytellers out there.”

The main event will be broadcast live on SBS One from 8.30pm hosted by Adam Spencer and Yumi Stynes.
