Author // Andrew Shaw Categories // Entertainment

Come take a walk on the wild side in the Talent Show with a Twist; experience the talented and the talentless with a dash of dance and a hint of glam, where karaoke meets mime, where mime meets drag, where drag meets Vegas!

It’s a little bit star studded, it’s a little bit sad… it’s Red Bennies on Sunday nights. Sit and be entertained with hosts superstar drag king Rocco D’Amore (pictured) and legendary drag queen Anita Bier in the reality stage show like no other. Participate or spectate, be entertained or be the entertainment. Is it trash? Is it glam? You be the judge… redbennies.com

Rhys Rodgers: queer Jurassic poetry

Local performance poet Rhys Rodgers will be launching his new album of spoken word, What We Think We Know About Dinosaurs, on Saturday, May 5, 7.30pm at Hares & Hyenas in Fitzroy.

What We Think We Know About Dinosaurs is a coming of age collection that explores the poetry of sex, social media and self-destruction from a Gen Y perspective. It is the story of a Christian schoolboy who moved to Melbourne, and taught himself how to be a flaming homosexual.

This is a last chance to see Rodgers before he leaves to promote his album overseas. He will be performing at Escape: International Performance Art Festival in Berlin, before touring across Europe and the UK. Bookings: hares-hyenas.com.au
