Australia’s premier LGBTIQ creative writing competition kicks off today at Stonewall Hotel. Sydney MP Alex Greenwich will launch the competition, which aims to shine a spotlight on short-form queer fiction.

The theme for this year’s competition will be announced at the event.

Writers can interpret the theme in any way they choose, providing they don’t exceed the 750 word limit.

According to the competition organisers, they expect to receive plenty of entries loaded with creativity, inspiration and excitement.

Winners will receive cash and prizes, with the winning entries to be published online.

Outstanding Writing Competition launch: 4-6 pm, Upstairs Bar at Stonewall, Oxford St, Darlinghurst.  All welcome. Entries close September 1, 2014. More information:  www.outstandingstories.net
