Wicked Wednesdays with Lady L

SYDNEY: Wednesday nights at The Bank Hotel in Newtown is a party institution among Sydney’s lesbian and queer girl crowd. And it’s set to get even hotter with exciting new shows and performers. Hostess Lady L gave SX the lowdown.

Tell us about your Wednesday night gig at the Bank Hotel – what is the night all about?

Every Wednesday night is never the same as the last. We have a mash up of DJs hitting the decks in the Velvet Room. I love roses so everyone who comes and parties with the Lady L crew gets a rose as well as $8 Lady L cocktails that just turn your taste buds on! We have dancers on tabletops battling it out with corsets and feathers from 10pm! We have kissing booths and competitions, where girls take on girls to win themselves some pretty cool prizes! We have piñatas, poker nights, bongos and so much more! Then at midnight every Wednesday, the show begins! We have had pole dancing champion Miss Summer perform for us, sexy and risqué burlesque dancers, vocalists and lesbian contortionists. You name it, you want it, come see it!

What sets this night apart from other girl nights on the scene?

I guess the beauty of this special midweek night is that it’s a place for everyone. It isn’t a nightclub where there is nowhere to sit and chat amongst friends and it doesn’t make you itch for a shower the minute you walk in the doors. The delicately lit and romantic scene it creates allows you to have the freedom to snatch a seat outside and chill out with friends and catch up over a beer while the partygoers can tear up the dance floor inside. Everyone is treated with some Lady Love – I can’t help but spread a little over everyone! It’s the perfect night out to meet new people. I also would love to invite those who are thinking about ‘coming out’ or have never been to a gay club before! Come and introduce yourself and I will make you sure you feel absolutely welcome!

What has Lady L been up to lately? Any notable projects or events on the horizon?

This is a crazy question. Let me share some dates and events with you...

February 12: Yes, it’s Fair Day time! I will be performing one of my shows on the day and be talking to the top ten finalists in the search for The Bachelorette Of The Year Competition! Come down and say hello!

February 15: Lady L gets up close and personal with some girls for a hot new photo shoot. Location TBA but there will be a sausage sizzle and drinks for those who want to come down and join! Then off to party at the Bank Hotel!

February 29: BOY Award night at the Bank Hotel! BOY will be a night not to be missed! I will be hosting and performing on the night! Performances galore with DJ Kate Monroe, fire dancers, drum soloists, and drinks on arrival!
Also in the works is the exclusive Lady L VIP area at the Mardi Gras Party! Stay tuned to find out more info. And last but definitely not least, it’s my birthday on April 28. Lady L will be celebrating in true Lady L-style. Tickets will be announced once venue is confirmed!
