Casey Donovan celebrates her tenth anniversary since winning Australian Idol with an intimate show revisiting key moments of the past decade.

In 2004, Casey Donovan was crowned the winner of Australian Idol, thus signalling the beginning of an eventful, not to mention tumultuous, journey through show business. To mark the occasion, Casey is inviting fans for an intimate showcase celebrating the last ten years. To be held at the Basement, it will feature tracks from Casey's time on Idol as well as her debut album For You, through to music from her roles in productions such as The Sapphires and Flowerchildren.

It’s been ten years since you first made your mark on Australian Idol. What goes through your mind when you look back at the last decade in showbiz?

When I look back over the last ten years, I think of all of the amazing things I have achieved in my career and all the lessons I have learnt and am so happy to still be living the dream of singing for my supper.

As a performer, what has been the most memorable highlight of the past ten years?

There have been some pretty big highlights but if I had to pick one, it would have to be supporting the one and only Cyndi Lauper during her 2011 tour. During the tour she asked me to sing ‘True Colors’ with her – one of my all time favourite songs! She is an amazing woman and to be asked to sing one of her biggest songs was a thrill. I will cherish that moment till the end!

If you could do something all over again, what would it be and why?

I believe everything happens for a reason. If you would have asked me this question many years ago I would have said everything. But I now take the good with the bad and learn from my mistakes. [I have] no regrets and just move on with whatever life has to offer.

Knowing what you know now, what piece of advice would you give 2004 Casey?

[Laughs] I’d tell her to speak up! Looking back, 16 is a very young age to be making big decisions but I wish I had spoken up more for the things I wanted or believed in, rather than sitting back and letting those decisions be made by others.

You accumulated quite a gay following. What do you want to say to your gay fans?
Thank you for always loving and supporting me through the thick and thin! Your love and support has not gone unnoticed! It's a beautiful thing to see your smiling faces in the crowd and it always warms my heart! I hope to see many of my gay friends and fans at The Basement. Please come along and say hi. I promise it will be a fun night! Here’s to another ten years.
