Baru Art presents HOMOSOCIAL

Homosocial will receive a makeover this week when Baru Art take over the Secret Garden bar to assemble an installation which is set to redefine gender and challenge the patriarchy.
After a series of successful shows in 2014, Claire Bornhoffen and Cassandra Toscano (Baru Art) developed the idea for Will You Love Me Tomorrow? with sculptor Yang-En Hume.
The collaborative effort – created especially for the Secret Garden’s hanging gallery – will display hundreds of dismembered doll parts presented like specimen in sealed plastic bags. And if headless dolls aren’t enough to entice you into attending, then perhaps the work of Italian new media artist Francesco Pariset will do the trick.
Exploring experiences in the era of digital surgery, Pariset will exhibit his GIF animation Feeling Fine//Feeling Mine, compelling the audience to negotiate new models of identity.
Sydney drag darling Matt Format will assume the role of a life size marionette during his performance, while DJ Dandy will provide you with some blissful musical accompaniment.
Don’t miss this one.
Baru Art presents Homosocial in conjunction with Snatch and Grab and Dandy Magazine: Wednesday 13th August 5-11pm, performance 9:30pm at Secret Garden Bar 134 Enmore Road, Enmore.
