Interim results for the Kirby Institute’s Opposites Attract study has reported zero HIV transmissions between men in sero-discordant couples — where one is HIV-positive and one is HIV-negative — where the positive partner has undertaken treatment and has an undetectable viral load.

While the majority of HIV cases in Australia are related to men who have sex with men, women represent nearly 10 per cent of people living with HIV. We rarely hear from these women, however they are part of the HIV community and while they have shared experiences with men who are HIV positive, they also have individual experiences which we could all learn from.
